Operating Principle | Exhaled gases are recycled after CO2 rmoval | Exhaled gases are let out |
In Open Circuit configuration ~99% of the inlet oxygen is wasted. Thanks to the closed circuit concept, this device immensely conserves oxygen. Whereas a Hi-flow Oxygen cannula or conventional BiPAP requires Oxygen inlet of more that 30L/min, our device requires a mere 0.5 L/min
To begin with this device can operate as standard oxygen mask delivering 100% humidified and warmed gases at 30 to 50% FiO2. If demand arises, the FiO2 can be further increased to 90% by adjusting the inlet gas mixture. If required the Airway pressures can be increased to levels provided by CPAP and BiPAP devices. All this at a mere 0.5L/in O2 inlet
